Lindy Petersen

What truly matters to me is making a positive, lasting difference in the lives of those I work with. I’m passionate about helping people build the skills they need to thrive, overcome challenges, and live fulfilling lives.

I’m a clinical psychologist with decades of experience practising in South Australia, having earned degrees from both Adelaide and Flinders Universities. My focus has been on working with children, adolescents, families, and schools. I’ve written several books and training manuals for clinicians, parents, and teachers under the STOP THINK DO program, which has been adapted in various settings across Australia and internationally.

As both a parent and grandparent, I understand the importance of a holistic approach to addressing young people's challenges. This means considering not only the individual child or adolescent, but also their family and school environments. I believe that a comprehensive understanding comes through detailed assessments of cognitive, learning, emotional, personality, and social skills, as well as through collaboration with family and school supports. I tailor treatment programmes and recommendations based on these insights.

In recent years, I’ve expanded my practice to include assessments and counselling for adults as well.

“Lindy Petersen is a highly respected psychologist whose expertise in child development and assessment has made a significant impact on the lives of countless children and families. One of her greatest strengths is her capacity to collaborate effectively with other professionals, always striving for a holistic understanding of a child's needs.
